Entry Level

The best place to start if you find maths challenging or haven’t studied it in a while.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Work with whole numbers and simple fractions

  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide confidently

  • Understand time, dates, and money in everyday situations

  • Read simple charts, timetables, and price lists

  • Build your confidence working with numbers

​

These levels are perfect for beginners or those wanting to refresh the basics.

Level 1

For learners with a good foundation who want to move closer to work or further education.

​

You’ll develop skills in:

  • Using percentages, decimals, and ratios

  • Solving everyday problems using maths

  • Understanding measurements, weights, and conversions

  • Creating and interpreting bar charts, tables and diagrams

  • Budgeting and handling money

​

Level 1 is ideal for people applying for jobs, apprenticeships or further training.

Level 2 (Equivalent to GCSE Grade 4/C)

This qualification is widely accepted by employers, colleges and training providers.

​

You’ll gain skills in:

  • Solving real-world problems using algebra and formulas

  • Calculating interest, discounts, and ratios in practical scenarios

  • Interpreting data from graphs, statistics, and charts

  • Applying logical thinking to everyday problems

​

Level 2 is required for most NHS roles, apprenticeships, further education and university courses.

Eligibility Criteria

This course is 100% free if:

  • You are aged 19 or over on the 31st August 2026

  • You live in Hull & East Yorkshire

  • Meet the UK residency requirements for government-funded courses

  • You are not currently on a full-time funded course

  • Do not already have a GCSE (Grade C/4 or above) or Level 2 in maths


Our Engagement Officer will check your eligibility during sign-up and support you through the process.
