SAFEGUARDING & PREVENT
At Skills-UK, the safety and wellbeing of our learners, staff, and visitors is our top priority. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment, where everyone feels supported, protected, and empowered.
This page provides essential information about our approach to Safeguarding, the Prevent Duty, and how to report a concern.
Safeguarding
Skills-UK is committed to working in partnership with others to ensure that everyone who takes part in our training does so in a space that is safe from harm, free from prejudice, and open to all.
We believe safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility — and we all play a part in protecting children, young people, and adults at risk from harm, abuse, and neglect.
Our safeguarding approach includes:
-
Raising awareness about the signs and impact of abuse and neglect
-
Creating a culture where learners and staff feel confident to speak up
-
Taking swift, proportionate action when concerns are raised
-
Providing effective support and aftercare to anyone affected
-
Ensuring all staff receive regular safeguarding training and updates
We follow multi-agency frameworks and are committed to best practice through our wider policies and procedures, including our complaints process, whistleblowing policy, and safe recruitment procedures.

Prevent Duty
As part of the national CONTEST counter-terrorism strategy, the Prevent Duty is a legal requirement for education providers. It aims to safeguard vulnerable individuals from being radicalised or drawn into terrorism.
The four key pillars of CONTEST are:
-
Prevent – stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism
-
Pursue – stop terrorist attacks
-
Protect – strengthen defences against terrorism
-
Prepare – mitigate the impact of an attack
The objectives of Prevent are to:
-
Challenge extremist ideologies
-
Safeguard individuals at risk
-
Enable rehabilitation and reintegration
We embed Prevent awareness across our delivery and ensure staff and learners understand the risks and signs. Where needed, we work with partners through the Channel programme.
