​Step Into a Career in Care – Level 1 & Level 2 Courses Available

Build your confidence, gain real skills, and get ready for work in Health and Social Care

Looking for a career where you can make a difference? Our employer designed Health and Social Care training is the perfect place to start. Whether you’re brand new to the sector or ready to take the next step, we offer two free, flexible courses to support you on your journey:

  • Level 1 Introduction to Adult Social Care – for those starting out or returning to learning

  • Level 2 Award in Health and Care – for learners ready to build on their skills and knowledge

Both courses are designed for participants, with no or little prior experience required for Level 1 and progression built in to help you to achieve New Skills, New Mindset and New Opportunities.

What You'll Learn

Level 1 Introduction to Adult Social Care:

  • What adult social care is and who it supports

  • The role of a care worker and working with others

  • Core values like dignity, respect and person-centred care

  • Safeguarding basics and health & safety

  • Confidence-building, communication and employability

Level 2 Award in Health and Care:

  • Understanding duty of care, equality, and inclusion

  • Person-centred approaches and supporting independence

  • Roles and responsibilities in health and care settings

  • Effective handling of information and confidentiality

  • Health and safety, infection control, and safeguarding in more depth

Who It's For

These courses are ideal for you if:

  • You’re currently unemployed and looking for a new direction

  • You’re interested in working in adult social care or support work

  • You want to build practical skills and confidence

  • You’re new to care (Level 1) or have completed basic training and want to progress (Level 2)

Our team will help you choose the right starting point based on your experience and goals.

What Happens After the Course?

We’ll continue supporting you after your course ends. This includes:

  • Applying for local jobs in care and support roles

  • Interview preparation and employer engagement

  • Access to further training (e.g. Skills Bootcamps or apprenticeships)

  • One-to-one careers advice tailored to your goals

£20,000 - £22,000 per year

Eligibility Criteria (Adult Skills Fund)

These courses are fully funded through the Adult Skills Fund, meaning you can take part for free if you meet the criteria below:

  • Aged 19 or over on 31st August 2024

  • Living in the local area

  • Have the right to work and reside in the UK

  • Either:

    • Unemployed and actively seeking work

    • Earning less than £23,104 (or local low-wage threshold)

  • Not already on another full-time funded course

We’ll confirm your eligibility and support you through the sign-up process.
